Official Commissioning of the UVTAB Assessment Centre

ByteWave streamed the UVTAB Assessment Centre commissioning live: site visit, multi-camera production and clear audio, start to finish.

Overview

ByteWave planned and ran the multi-camera live stream for the commissioning of UVTAB's UGX 29+ billion Assessment Centre on 9 January 2026, bringing the full ceremony live to stakeholders across Uganda.

The challenge

The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) was commissioning its new Assessment Centre, a national milestone for TVET assessment in Uganda. Many stakeholders could not attend in person: partners, training institutions, candidates, and officials across the country. The ceremony had to reach them live, with no second chance.

The event ran under a large outdoor tent on a site still being finished, with no ready production infrastructure. A frozen stream, poor sound, or a single shaky camera would have reflected badly on a government body on one of its most visible days. UVTAB needed a partner who could guarantee a stable, broadcast-quality stream and handle every technical detail before the day.

Our solution

We planned before we built. On 6 January 2026, we joined UVTAB's planning meeting and walked the site with their team, fixing camera and microphone positions and checking power and internet.

On the day, every feed ran through an AVMATRIX 6-channel switcher at our control desk, with a live Multiview for clean cuts between cameras and slides. To cover arrivals at the front of the building, we relayed an IP camera feed from the entrance to the tent at the back, so viewers never missed a moment. Wireless mics delivered clear stage audio, and backup power kept every device running.

How we did it

  1. 1

    Pre-event technical planning

Assessed the venue and the broadcast requirements and planned the production and streaming setup for a high-stakes, live-only event

  2. 2

    Live production

Installed the switcher, cameras, IP relay, mics, and backup power, then tested the stream end-to-end and produced the ceremony in real time at broadcast-grade quality

  3. 3

    Livestream delivery

Delivered the stream to national and remote audiences in real time. Kept the broadcast reliable throughout the event

  4. 4

    Handover:

The full recording stayed on YouTube for replay, and we shared the link to UVTAB.
